Remzi Kazmaz is a Turkish lawyer, writer, documentary filmmaker, environmental activist and politician born in Rize in 1954. He graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Law and has been practicing law for many years.
Remzi Kazmaz has been closely involved with the Turkish Promotion Research Democracy and Secular Formation Foundation (TÜLOV) for many years.
TÜLOV is an independent civil society foundation that aims to protect Republican values, democracy, secularism and cultural heritage. The foundation is known for its educational scholarships, cultural events, panels and social awareness projects.
He served as the Bodrum/Muğla Representative for a long time and took an active role in the opening of the Bodrum branch of the foundation. (From 2022)
He is the Honorary President and is a pioneer in various projects of the foundation.
He initiated a petition and documentary screenings to bring the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus (one of the 7 Wonders of the World) back to Bodrum from the British Museum (events intensifying in 2025).
It has produced documentary films on behalf of TÜLOV (e.g. "Kamer Genç People's Deputy"), organized panel discussions, and participated in social projects such as "tickets on hangers" for earthquake victims.
He often appears as a speaker or organizer at the Foundation's events that contribute to the advocacy of secularism, democracy and the Republic.
Kazmaz has been involved in the Muğla/Bodrum branch of TÜLOV, especially in environmental, cultural and secularist struggles under the umbrella of the foundation. Due to the close ties between the foundation and the CHP (many CHP executives are on the board of trustees), these activities also take on a political dimension.
