He was born in 1948 in Niğde/ Ulukışla district. After completing his primary and secondary education, he graduated from Niğde Teacher Training School and started his career as an educator in 1966. For 14 years, he worked as a primary school teacher in various provinces of Turkey and contributed to the upbringing of generations.

In 1979, he graduated from the Mathematics Department of Istanbul Atatürk Institute of Education and worked as a branch teacher for 6 years. After leaving public service voluntarily, he started his entrepreneurial life and founded his own private tutoring center in Avcılar, Istanbul in 1985. After 27 years of operating in different fields such as private tutoring, driving school, private security course, KPSS course and construction sector, he ended his professional business life in 2012 and settled in Bodrum.

Mustafa Duru, who carried his social sensitivity to civil society activities during his retirement period; He served as the Chairman of the Bodrum Environmental Platform and a member of the Bodrum City Council Board of Directors. Since 2022, he has been carrying out social responsibility projects within the Bodrum Representative Office of the Turkish Promotion Research Democracy and Secular Formation Foundation (TÜLOV) and still continues this duty.
